Our Story:

In 1988, a group of volunteers realized a calling to ministry to the families of inmates at the Ellsworth Correctional Facility. The City of Ellsworth saw the advantages of providing accommodations near the correctional facility for those visiting inmates. The City had acquired a former hotel and donated the property to the Ellsworth Family Connections, Inc. board of directors.

The property was in disrepair and so the board and many other volunteers jumped into the task of renovating it. Over the years, many individuals and churches have donated time, money and materials to the center. Several churches adopted a room and proceeded to redecorate and provide supplies, linens and decorations for the room.

In 2017, Ellsworth Scout Troop 84 Eagle Scouts enhanced the facility with a mural, improvements to the playground and landscaping. The inmates at Ellsworth Correctional Facility created the black metal sign with the center name engraved.

We are always looking for donations of supplies, money and labor to assist us in accomplishing our mission in ministry.

Studies of prison release success rates, offender behavior in institutions, and treatment of juvenile offenders show the offender's family is a critical factor in positive success stories. The Ellsworth Family Connections Center strives to provide services to the family and friends of inmates of the Ellsworth Correctional Facility at a reasonable cost, while encouraging strong family relationships.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Ellsworth Family Connections Center is to provide affordable, safe accommodations and minister to the needs of those visiting inmates at the Ellsworth Correctional Facility in the hope of preserving the family unit. We provide overnight accommodations, information, referrals, and internet access for our registered guests.
